I love to travel. Who doesn't? But one of the most obvious guilt is the pollution from jet fuel. Well, I just read in
The New York Times this morning that Air New Zealand is the first commercial airline using a 50/50 combination of conventional jet fuel and the oil from the "jatropha" plant (Virgin Atlantic tested 20% nut oil combo in Feb. 2008). It's claim to fame is that it can even be cultivated in sub-perfect soil conditions, unlike soybean or corn. More testing by other airlines will start in January 2009.
